About us
A guide to the UK’s Christmas markets
Christmas Markets UK lists the UK’s Christmas markets — when each one opens and closes, opening hours, what it’s like and how to get there — with space for visitors to say what they were really like.
Christmas Markets UK is an independent guide, not connected with any market listed. Dates and opening hours can change — always check with the organiser before you travel.
What’s listed
The guide lists 174 markets across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. We include city and town Christmas markets, continental and German-style markets, Victorian and Dickensian festivals, Christmas markets and fairs at castles, cathedrals, palaces and stately homes, large annual craft, makers’ and food fairs, and winter events where a Christmas market is a main part. We leave out weekly or monthly farmers’ markets, school and church fairs, one-off shop or pub events, trade-only shows, and light trails or grottos without a market.
How we check dates
- Every listing is checked against the market’s own website or official announcements — the organiser, the venue, the council or the official tourism board — and shows our sources and the date we last checked it.
- When a market hasn’t announced this season’s dates, we say so and show when it usually happens, rather than guessing.
- Markets often open only on some days, or keep different hours on different days. We show the organiser’s notes (for example “Thursdays to Sundays only”) wherever we show the dates.
- Dates change. If you spot something out of date, please tell us — and always check with the organiser before you travel.
Reviews and comments
There are 0 approved reviews and 0 comments so far. Every market started with none: we have never written, bought or imported a review. Ratings are plain averages of approved reviews and appear once a market has 3. Read our review and comment policy.
Photos
We never use markets’ own photos or logos. Photos are our own, visitors’ own (added to their reviews and checked first), or free-licensed photos credited where they appear and on our photo credits page.
How the site is paid for
Some links — such as the “Stay near…” hotel search buttons — are affiliate links, marked “Ad”: if you book through one we may earn a commission. That never affects listings, reviews or ratings. See our affiliate disclosure.
