A five-week, Thursday-to-Sunday Christmas market of local makers and street food inside Newry's 17th-century Variety Market hall.
Newry's Christmas market began in 2025, when the city's historic covered Variety Market hall was turned over to festive stalls for five weeks. The organisers say the first year drew more than 65,000 visitors and that the 2026 market will be bigger.
There is room for up to 70 stalls, selling Christmas gifts, decorations, handmade crafts and artisan food, with street food and festive drinks from local traders. Live music and entertainment run at weekends, and the market opens alongside the city's Christmas lights switch-on.
It opens Thursday to Sunday only. A separate, pre-booked Santa's workshop experience for children runs alongside it. In 2025 the market took over the Variety Market hall, so the usual Thursday and Saturday market didn't trade during those weeks. The hall is covered, so it is a good option in poor weather.
