Nottingham Winter Wonderland

A winter wonderland in Nottingham's Old Market Square combining a Christmas market of independent traders with an ice rink, observation wheel, ice bar and ski-style bars.

Each winter Nottingham's Old Market Square fills with Winter Wonderland, run by The Mellors Group. The Christmas market side has stalls from independent traders selling things like artisan cheeses, chutneys, mead, jewellery, scents, fashion, homeware and continental food.

Around the market are the paid attractions: an ice rink and 'Sky Skate', an observation wheel, a toboggan slide, an ice bar and the alpine-style Sur La Piste and Altitude bars, plus food stalls and live entertainment. The market stalls close on Christmas Eve while the rides and bars carry on to New Year's Eve (closed Christmas Day).

Walking round the market is free; rides, skating and bar bookings are paid and can be booked online. The organisers say the site is pushchair and wheelchair friendly on its decking (except the Ice Bar's stone floor), with toilets including accessible ones on site. Bars and attractions are cashless; payment at market stalls is up to each trader. Pets are discouraged because it gets busy; assistance dogs are welcome. Coaches can drop off near the Royal Concert Hall, or use the Forest park and ride and tram.
